Buying a puppy of any breed is a huge commitment and much homework must be done before deciding on the breed which is right for you.

Golden Retrievers LOVE MUD, and somehow always manage to make the smallest muddy patch cover their entire body from tip of nose to tip of tail, taking great pleasure in arriving in the house to show you how beautiful they look! Can you cope with hoovering 2, 3, maybe more times per day when they're dropping their coat? Golden Retrievers are also great diggers, so if you are at all houseproud and cherish your garden then this definitely is NOT the breed for you.

However, if you have oodles of time to give (this is not a breed suited to families who are out for long periods during the day), they just live to be loved, adore company, are so much fun to have around, and make excellent family members. You make think it strange to call a dog a family member, but, bring a Goldie into your life and that is exactly what they become. This family is most definitely 'owned' and loved by our Goldies!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, whichever breed you decide upon only buy your puppy from a reputable breeder. When contacting breeders about a puppy you may feel as though you are under interrogation - DO NOT LET THIS PUT YOU OFF. Most breeders are passionate about their dogs and will do absolutely everything possible to ensure their puppies go to the best homes possible, and not to the first person who comes along with the money in their hand.
